The Coldplay frontman is composing the official anthem for Prince Harry's Paralympic-style games for wounded servicemen and women.
The tune will be performed at the opening ceremony of Harry's brainchild, the Invictus Games, heralding four days of sports beginning Sept. 10.
The eve-of-games show will appeal to people who like events like the Trooping of the Colour, insiders say, with bands from the Royal Marines, Royal Air Force and Army participating. There will also be a flyover by the Red Arrows, it was announced Wednesday.
It still remains to be seen if Martin will perform, but even so, "It's great to have him involved," a source tells PEOPLE.
The show's producer is Kim Gavin, the creative director of the London 2012 games closing ceremony, where Coldplay appeared.
Worth noting, perhaps, is that only last month, Prince William acknowledged to a group of school kids that Coldplay is his favorite band.
Like at the Olympics, there will be a competitors' parade, featuring more than 400 servicemen and women from around the world, including the U.S.A.
"It will be a military-themed but will be peppered with other surprises," a source says.
Closing night will bring a concert at the Olympic park. Stars and performers to be announced "in due course," according to a spokesman.
The 5,000 tickets for the ceremony show went on sale Wednesday. They cost $21.50 and are available at http://ift.tt/1guParS.
