We’ve got one hand in our pocket and the other is giving Alanis Morissette a high-five for her new do. The star, so famed for her long brown tresses that she once filmed a video wearing only them, has chopped off her locks and dyed them blonde.

So what can “You Learn” about the star’s latest cut? According to her Instagram, “new hair. girl needed to have a little fun ;) ps– blondes are, in fact, treated differently. this is one of the many effects of work addiction recovery :) #spontaneity #easybreezy #makeupforlosttime #healing.” Isn’t it “Ironic,” don’t you think, that she’s experiencing life differently as a blonde after spending so much time with one signature hairstyle?

Before we get “Uninvited” from Morissette’s instagram for making too many song puns (and we’re running low anyway), we should get right to the “So Pure” heart of the matter: The look itself. It’s sort of ombré-adjacent, with dark roots that dip-dye into a platinum hue, and she’s lightened her brows (and overall makeup routine) to match. She also lost a significant chunk of her length and straightened her waves to really show off the new color.
