Two months after she was hospitalized following a suicide attempt, Paris Jackson is now "in a good place, getting the help she needs," according to her grandmother, Katherine Jackson.

Speaking from her late son Michael's Encino, Calif., estate, the Jackson matriarch, 83, tells Hello! magazine that Paris, 15, "is doing much better. … The treatment is going good, really good."

Katharine, who with her grandson TJ shares legal guardianship of Paris and her brothers, Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11, also discusses the toll watching after Michael's daughter has taken on her.

"She's my baby. It's hard for me, really hard," says Katherine. "All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night Michael died Paris was crying and said, 'I want to go and see daddy; I don't want to be without him.' "

Saying she doesn’t always understand her grandkids – especially "the whole social media thing. They are always on their phones" – Katherine does recognize, "The kids are great. They are incredibly polite and that's down to the way Michael brought them up. He instilled good manners."

She also told of how she misses Michael, who this Thursday, Aug. 29, would have turned 55.

"There's not a day goes by that I don't think about him; when I don't shed a tear," she said. "He was a very good father, the best. He was a good son, too."

Still, she notes that she and Michael had different parenting styles. The children no longer wear masks like they did when in public with Michael, and the two elder kids are no longer home-schooled.

"They were sheltered a lot when Michael raised them," she says "I had thought about it and I said, 'I am not going to raise them like that' … But Michael had a good reason. He was trying to protect them."
