Amanda and the late Sean Misner
The baby was born Aug. 22 and has been named after his father, 26-year-old Sean Misner, who was one of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots killed on June 30.
"For everything sad we have posted last night something joyous happened," the Sean Misner Memorial Facebook page read on Aug. 23.
"At 8:13pm, Sean Jaxon Herbert Misner was born. 6 lbs. 15 oz. 19 ¾ inches tall. Congratulations Amanda! We love you and the little guy so very much. Nobody could have been as strong as you needed to be through everything, except for you."
According to a local CBS news report, the couple had originally chosen the name Jaxon, but after losing her husband, Amanda changed her mind.
The late firefighter began working with the Hotshot crew in April, and the night before he died, he lay next to his wife and spoke to her pregnant belly "so that his son could hear his voice, for the fear that his son would not know him, due to being out on fires," his family revealed in a tribute after his death.
