If you want to have the best Halloween ever, Martha Stewart can make your wish come true.

Over the years, she's morphed into a spellbinding sorceress, a golden goddess, a glam vampire – even Medusa. "This year, I have been transformed into Fairy GrandMartha," the domestic diva, 72, tells PEOPLE of her annual autumn makeover, which will be featured on the cover of her magazine's Halloween issue. (See behind-the-scenes photos of the cover shoot and the final result above.)

How did she do it? "A ballerina's leotard, yards of pink tulle, sparkling accessories, and some excellent makeup and hairstyling all combined to make me look the part," Stewart says.

Stewart's Halloween issue, which hits newsstands Sept. 3, will be full of tricks on decorating, creating costumes, pumpkin carving and, of course, preparing delicious treats like black licorice crème brûlée, pumpkin-chocolate whoopie pies and rocky road brownie bites.
