"My father is over the moon to be a grandfather," the 28-year-old said of Prince Charles while talking to Royal Marines and their families at HM Naval Base in Devonport, Plymouth, Friday.
Tasha Reilly, 35, who was the guest of her partner Lt. Col. Tristan Harris, 42, then asked if he'd be rushing to have children now, adding: "No pressure then?"
Harry replied: "No, he's got one [grandchild] now it will be fine. The pressure's off now."
He was at the base to officially open the new Royal Marines Tamar, a $45 million center of amphibious excellence. It will be used for training in using vehicles including hovercraft and all types of coastal and river landings.
He also reviewed a parade by 1 Assault Group Royal Marines, with music including the National Anthem played by HM Band of the Royal Marines.
During the visit, Harry, who wore his Household Calvary service dress uniform with his light blue Army Air Corps beret, chatted to members of the parade and their relatives.
One enthusiastic 6-year-old named Jacob showed him a colorful drawing of them together on a Naval ship with the message: "Dear Harry, You're fantastic," to which the prince commented: "It looks like you're driving."
The Prince then joined Mrs. Marie Francis, 68, to cut the ribbon on the center's new training block dedicated to her husband, Colour Sergeant Michael James Francis, who was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal for his bravery in the Falklands conflict.
