"Blurred Lines" is the song of the summer, and Robin Thicke's sexy video has been parodied by everyone from Jimmy Kimmel to a pack of dogs but the singer took his hit in a new direction when he teamed with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots on Thursday.

They performed it using classroom instruments – and it was awesome. With new dad Fallon, 38, on a wooden block and Casio keyboard and Thicke, 36, on spoons, they rocked it out. The Roots accompanied the pair on kids' noisemakers including a kazoo, xylophone, recorder, maracas, ukulele and cowbell.

After watching the video, there's only one thing to say: More cowbell!
