Amanda Bynes's mother has regained conservatorship of her as she remains in a psychiatric facility.

A California court gave Lynn Bynes control over the troubled star – and her estate valued at more than $5 million – Oct. 22, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Bynes, 28, who was under an emergency conservatorship last year, began spiraling out of control again Sept. 28, when she was arrested for DUI in California.

The papers list her recent string of bizarre behavior in New York (reportedly attempting to shoplift, allegedly scratching a woman inside a nightclub and being kicked out of the John F. Kennedy International Airport) and exorbitant spending as evidence that she "poses a substantial risk to herself, to others, and to property."

Bynes "has been spending large amounts of her savings," the petition states. "It has been reported that she has recently made extensive purchases as gifts from jewelry stores, such as Cartier, for strangers."

The filing also cites the former child actress's repeated claims that doctors implanted a microchip inside her brain.

On Monday, a judge extended her involuntary commitment to a Los Angeles treatment facility by 30 days.

Bynes's mother was first granted legal control over her daughter in August 2013 after she set fire to a driveway. Bynes seemed to be starting fresh with her family's help, taking college classes and deleting controversial Tweets, until last month's arrest.
