A horse in suburban Phoenix needed rescuing after it led itself to water and did more than just drink.

Firefighters said they received a rather unusual call on Saturday. A homeowner in Mesa, Arizona, told the department his horse named Stormy wandered outside of his pen and somehow fell into the backyard swimming pool and became stuck. The caller asked firefighters for help safely removing Stormy from the pool.

Mesa Fire Capt. Forrest Smith says firefighters, with the assistance of a veterinarian, tranquilized the horse before pulling him out of the shallow end using several straps.

Smith says the horse was not injured.
