Marcel the Shell has a new adventure!

The viral stop motion animated shell returned for his third video (and first since 2011) on Monday.

The cute character's YouTube comeback coincides with the release of creators (and married couple!) Jenny Slate and Dean Fleisher-Camp's children's book, Marcel the Shell: The Most Surprised I've Ever Been , out Tuesday.

PEOPLE caught up with Slate, now starring in FX's comedy Married, at the God's Love We Deliver 2014 Golden Heart Awards on Thursday to chat about Marcel's success.

"When the video went viral, there were so many different things we could do with it," she said. "But what we wanted to do first was make the books. And to make beautiful things for children of all ages – whether you're 7 or 77, there's a kid in there somewhere."

Check out the newest video ("Oh, it's a surprise! Massive weight gain – Marcel is 1 lb.," Slate joked) below.
