Nicholas Brendon has apologized for being arrested over the weekend, saying he acted out after mixing prescription medicine with alcohol.

Police in Boise, Idaho, took the Criminal Minds guest star into custody Friday night and charged him with two misdemeanors after responding to reports of a disturbance at the hotel he was in for Tree City Comic Con.

"I apologize. Usually those words end a message like this but I am beginning with them to emphasize how much I regret disappointing my family, my fans, and myself. I can offer an explanation but I make no excuse for my unacceptable behavior," Brendon, 43, wrote Monday on Facebook.

"For the past 5 days, I have been taking prescription pain medication to help me manage a cyst behind my knee cap, which is scheduled for corrective surgery on Monday morning," the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star continued. "I made the poor decision to mix this prescribed medication with alcohol. The result was embarrassing and unacceptable."

The actor added that he is seeking treatment and therapy for his "medical ailments" and "emotional demons."
