She has not appeared on the silver screen since 1998's Beloved, but Oprah Winfrey is back showing off her acting chops in Lee Daniels' The Butler .

In this new clip, her character Gloria Gaines discusses not just the secret to great potato salad but also the slim odds of her husband telling White House secrets. A proud moment for the wife of the film's Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker) who has risen from the ranks of "pantry man" to butler for the President.

Winfrey and Whitaker are just two of the Hollywood heavy-hitters in this biopic about White House head butler Eugene Allen, who served eight U.S. presidents over the course of three decades. He died at 90 in 2010.

The rest of the cast includes Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson, Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, Minka Kelly as Jackie Kennedy, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, and Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda as Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

Lee Daniels' The Butler is out Oct. 18.
