Avicii has been hospitalized in Miami after suffering a blocked gall bladder, forcing him to cancel an appearance at the Ultra Music Festival on Saturday.

The DJ, 24, is now scheduled to undergo surgery to remove his gall bladder, he revealed on Facebook.

"I'm really sorry but as some of you have already heard, I will not be playing Ultra Festival this weekend," he wrote. "My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis. I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night."

But, Avicii added, the pain returned Thursday afternoon, and he was hospitalized overnight.

"My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning," he wrote. "It's a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour."

In a statement released Friday, Avicii's manager said that the Swedish DJ "was really disappointed that he wasn't able to come to the Avicii Hotel at SLS and perform for all his fans," referring to the musician's scheduled gig on Thursday night. "And of course, ULTRA has been so important to us for so many years, it's a big letdown not being able to play."

Avicii recently rocketed to the top of the buzz heap after Madonna revealed in early March that she was working on a collaboration with the superstar DJ.

"Doing some house work after 4 hours of sleep which is why i cant spell!," she wrote, posting a photo showing her cleaning her bathroom in black lace gloves and fishnet stockings. "On my way to the studio to work with Avicii!"
