And, now the British thespian is hoping the golden guy will bestow his charmed touch on one particular contender gunning for Tinseltown's ultimate kudos.
"I know who I want to win," she told reporters at Friday's seventh-annual Women in Film pre-Oscar party, sponsored by Perrier-Jouët, MAC and Max Mara in Los Angeles. "In terms of film, I really want 12 Years a Slave to be recognized. I'm really hoping that happens."
Indeed, Mirren is getting behind a derby thoroughbred – and a clear favorite: Pundits, including PEOPLE's own movie critic, are pegging 12 Years to score some well-deserved hardware for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress, for breakout sensation Lupita Nyong'o.
That said, the 68-year-old Mirren was quick to note that she's casting a democratic eye on the year's other hopefuls, which have made this year's Oscars one of the closest bouts in years.
"They're all such great movies this year," Mirren explains. "It's very tough competition, especially with the male actors. I mean, all of those performances were spectacular. When I had to vote, it was so hard to say one and not the other. They're all incredible."
Let's hope Mirren busts out an delirious celebratory dance, should her favorites win: After all, the gal does know how to work a mean twerk.
