The Glee actor, who said "I do" to Renee Puente on Oct. 18 in Hawaii, tells PEOPLE that in the short time they've been married, their bond is already stronger.
"There's this connection that I knew we had before, but it's just deepened," Morrison gushed at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. "It's just going to grow and grow."
And his new relationship status is already affecting his work. While getting pitched for parts recently, "I was like, 'You know what, honestly,' I stopped them right there and said, 'I don't want to hear anything, because I just got married and I don't want to see some beautiful, intelligent girl come up to me, because I'm off the market, you know!' "
So how did Morrison know Puente was the one?
"She kept kind of proving things," he said. "I was on tour with New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, and she came on the road and lived in a tour bus with me, and I knew that this was either going to work or it really isn't. It really did! I knew she was the one consecutively, day after day."
Professionally, Morrison and the rest of the Glee cast will sign off after the show's upcoming sixth and final season. As for what's been the best part of his star-making gig, Morrison said simply, "the people."
"We've definitely had our highs and lows … the passing of Cory [Monteith] was a hard thing for all of us, but I think it brought us all closer," he said. "Cory and I were definitely the tightest."
But since Monteith's death last year, "I've gotten really close with Chord [Overstreet]," Morrison said. "And Lea [Michele] and I have known each other forever. I've experienced some friendships that I will always have."
These days, Morrison is just happy to merge his two worlds.
"Honestly, this business is so crazy and I love that I can bring [my wife] to events like this," he said. "She handles herself better than I do in a room. That's an amazing part that I love about her."
