While some stars are all about losing length from their hair (hello, Lauren Conrad), others can’t stop adding it. Tori Spelling and Sarah Hyland both recently transformed their strands with some bold extensions. Here’s what you need to know.

Spelling debuted her new look — freshly-dyed blonde hair with gray ombré ends — on the Today Show Monday, a change she said marks a fresh start for her. “The last year has been a rough road. As I move forward as a woman, mom,& wife looking happily towards the start of a New Year I needed a new “Do”.You think this last year should have given me grey hair? I gave it to myself! #Tori’sShadesofGrey #rebirth #NewChapter #TrueTori #ToriTuesdays @lifetimetv,” she captioned the photo below on Instagram.

The reality stars also revealed to Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford that her gray strands are in fact faux extensions. (Maybe Kylie Jenner was her mane muse?)

“I needed something different,” she shared. “It’s so much like, ‘Is Tori OK? What’s wrong with Tori?’ I was like, ‘You know what? I need something clean and new and fresh,’ and this is it.”

Hyland also shared her mane transformation on social media, taking over the Instagram account of celeb hot-spot Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood to showcase each step of her hair journey, which she titled, “how I became beyonce.”

First, the Modern Family actress dyed her hair blonde. Then she added some serious length and body with mega-long extensions.

And the last step? Pose in front of wind machine for the full-Beyoncé effect. “They say blonde’s have more fun. Let’s see how this goes ;) Thank you @nikkilee901 for the color and locks! Honestly the best out there @ninezeroone @riawnacapri,” she shared.

Whose extensions do you like better? Are you a fan of gray hair? Share your thoughts below.
